Book talk at Vermont Ski Museum

The Vermont Ski Museum will present an author talk on Invasion on the Mountain: the Adventures of Will Ryan and the Civilian conservation Corps, 1933. Writer Judith Edwards will discuss her book, meant for middle grade and older students. Join the conversation about the young hero and the development of the ski area at Mount Mansfield State Park.

Program begins at 7 PM on Wednesday, October 19th.

Teen Mystery Night Saturday Oct. 22

On Saturday evening, October 22 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, the Stowe Free Library will be hosting a Murder Mystery Night for teens called Murder at the Old Doom Mansion.

Dr. Larry Doom, famous chemist and heir of the Doom estate, led a troublesome life full of misery, lies, and deceitful practices. To make amends for all his dastardly deeds, he has invited his prior associates to a dinner party. Unfortunately, when the guests arrive, he is found dead.

Two Lamoille County Nature Center After-school programs coming late fall.

The Lamoille County Nature Center will be holding two programs at the library this fall for children in grades 3- 4.

The first program called "Pioneer Party" will be held on Wednesday, November 2 from 3-4:30. Children will celebrate the fall harvest in pioneer style. Using Little House on the Prairie as a guide, this program will take a step back in time, before central heat and electricity.

VINS Owls at library today!

The Vermont Institute of Natural Science presented their "Give a Hoot" program for young children at the library today. Children learned about, and saw for themselves, two Vermont owls -- the red screech owl and the bard owl. VINS is a nonprofit organization from Quechee, Vermont that houses a raptor center. In addition to caring for injured raptors, VINs offers environmental science programs both at their center and around the state that teach empathy for nature and empower individuals to care for local ecosystems.

Come join local author and world explorer Jan Reynolds at the Stowe Free Library on Thursday morning, July 14 at 10:30 as she talks to children about her two books, Cycle of Rice, Cycle of Life and Celebrate!

Cycle of Rice, Cycle of Life is a primer for teaching ecology and sustainability to elementary school children.
