Department of Homeland Security seeks public comments

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection, under the aegis of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, has asked public libraries to make available a CD-Rom.  Members of the public may use the CD in the library, or sign it out for a day. The purpose is to solicit comments on the potential environmental and socioeconomic effects associated with its security activiries along the border between the United States and Canada.  The CD will be available between September 16, 2011 and October 31, 2011.

The Friends of Stowe Free Library meet Thursday, 9/8

Grant Opportunities

Michael J. Obuchowski, Commissioner of Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services, has asked us to make available  grant application forms.  These grants are funded by the Human Services & Educational Facilities Program and the Recreational Facilities Program.  Some of the areas are:

Historic preservation; Historic barn and agricultural buildings; Agricultural fairs capital projects, and more.

There is a folder in the library with information and applications forms which may be copied

Slipcover Seminar!!

We're having a one-day workshop on how to make a slipcover!

Saturday, June 25th from 10:00am to 4:00 pm.

 

Limited to ten participants; sign-up is mandatory.

 Must bring a sewing machine and know how to operate it.

Must bring something small to slipcover (a dining chair OR ottoman.)

Must bring fabric and a sewing kit.

Must be prepared for magic to happen...
