Winter picture books for you to enjoy
Posted December 19th, 2012 by Julie Pickett
Snuggle into your favorite chair, wrap yourself in a warm blanket, bundle up by the fire, and read these fun new picture books about winter with your young children.
Beautiful illustrations make vivid the cold, crisp imagery of winter - icicles hanging off the edges of buildings, snowmen standing tall in people's front yards, frozen car doors that won't open, snowballs whizzing across the page, swirling snowflakes, and children making snow angels in their colorful winter garb.
Read to a Dog is coming in January!
Posted December 8th, 2012 by Julie Pickett
On Wednesday afternoons from 3-4 pm beginning January 9, 2013, children can come to the library to "Read to a Dog". Certified therapy dogs from the area will take turns making an appearance. Read to a Dog programs encourage new readers and challenged readers to read something of their own choosing in a non-critical, non-judgmental environment. Dogs don't know the difference if you slip up or can't pronounce a word correctly. Children must sign up ahead of time in order to participate. Each child will get 15 minutes of "dog time".
