Winner of Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award announced!

The 2009-2010 Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award has been given to Suzanne Collins for her best-selling hit The Hunger Games. The DCF award is the oldest children's choice award in the country. Vermont children in grades 4-8 read from a list of thirty titles that have been selected by a commitee of librarians and educators. Children must read a minimum of five books in order to vote.

The Hunger Games is the first book in a trilogy. It is a futuristic sci/fi fantasy in which the Government pits children in different districts against each other in a survival game where only the victor remains alive. It is a high-action thriller and won the award by a landslide.
