Book Discussion Coming!
Stowe Free Library is proud to be the first host of a new Vermont Humanities Council book discussion series. Our Civil War Legacy looks at the causes, outcomes, and lasting effects of the Civil War. As we approach the 150th anniversary of the war, it makes sense to examine its legacy with these three books:
The Legacy of the Civil War, by Robert Penn Warren ( Wed., 2/24)
This Republic of Suffering, by Drew Gilpin Faust (Wed., 3/17)
Race and Reunion, by David Blight. (Wed., 4/7)
Two of the Council's best scholars - Judith Yarnall and Victor Swenson - will lead the discussions.
Each session begins at 7 Pm in the Library Community Room
Pick up books at the library at any time, or call 253-6145 for more information.
