Julie finds a great new website for getting kids to read.

There are many, many sites on the web that are designed with the purpose of getting kids to read. Some are better than others. Recently I stumbled onto a great one -- James Pattersons Read Kiddo Read. This website is visually appealing with categories presented in a clearly delineated, user-friendly format. The home page features recommended books by age level, followed by contests to enter, books for boys, interviews with authors, books to buy for Christmas and more. Click on a category and more options are at your finger tips. I particularly liked the recommended classics category which is further divided into illustrated classics, fantasy, poetry and folklore, real world fiction, nonfiction, etc. Reading guides and lesson plans are provided for teachers, librarians and parents who might want to start a kid's book group. Also helpful is the category called 12 Tried and True Ways to Get your Kiddos Reading. This website has something for everyone. Kids looking for a book to read in a certain genre, parents wanting book ideas for their kids, teachers and librarians looking for help in the classroom or ideas for programs will find something here.
