Reading and Discussion Series

The Library is hosting a four-part reading and discussion series, beginning on Thursday, February 26th. The title is When Cultures Meet: First Contact between Natives and Europeans in "New France" and the Lake Champlain Basin. This series, which ties in with the coming quadricentennial of the "discovery" of Lake Champlain, is co-sponsored by Vermont Humanities Council.

The four books are available for loan at the Library.

In order, they are: Black Robe, by Brian Moore; New Worlds for All, by Colin Calloway; White Devil, by Stephen Brumwell; and Changes in the Land, by William Cronon. Scholars Judy Yarnall and Victor Swenson will lead the series. Judy and Victor are local academic luminaries and have led several highly interesting and entertaining series for Stowe in the past.

Sessions will meet in the Community Room on Thursday evenings at 7 pm.
