A dispatch from former Director, Charlotte Maison Kastner:
If you still want to include me on your recent favorite reads list, here are a couple: I am into Jane Austen... not because of the PBS series, but mainly through the urging of my friend Debbie... she finally got me to turn to Austen just before Christmas. I am hooked. I loved Persuasion. Not totally happy with the Masterpiece Theatre version. Book is great and quite contemporary. I am almost finished with Northanger Abbey. Loving the connection to early novels, esp. Gothic.
Other recent reads: The Soul of a Chef by Michael Ruhlman and Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. The latter was for the Nantucket Atheneum book discussion group in November. I also read What Came Before He Shot Her by Elizabeth George for the January meeting. Not recommending that one because it is such a tough topic and a very long read, but I did enjoy the discussion.
Thanks, Charlotte!
